Giroshima or pompom: content, breeding, description, photo, compatibility
Conditions of detention
Schooling, slowly swimming fish. Pompom fish is friendly, peacefully coexists with quiet neighbors. With fish exhibiting aggression, it is undesirable to keep a goldfish. The Pompon fish has a big mouth, you should not plant fry and small fish in it, it can eat them. Goldfish do not get along with barbs, mollies, neons, long-bodied goldfish.
When choosing an aquarium, give preference to a long tank. Its length should be from 70 cm. A family of fish of 3-4 individuals is kept in a 150-liter aquarium. An average of 50 liters per fish. If, in addition to pompons, other fish will inhabit the tank, a much larger volume will be required. The temperature suitable for the Pompon goldfish is 18-30 degrees. At different times of the year, the temperature regime will be different. In the cold season - 15-18 degrees, in spring and summer - 18-23 degrees. If the fish feel unwell, it is allowed to add 5 grams of salt to the water. Hardness - not higher than 25 degrees. When swimming in water of poor quality, fin ends whiten in fish. Acidity - 6-8. Goldfish need to constantly refresh the water. Purchase a compressor to purge the water with air. Fish greatly stir up the water, install filters.
Goldfish Pompom is very voracious, often overeating. You need to feed in small portions, which should be eaten within 10 minutes. If food remains, it should be removed. Overnight, food debris can poison water. The diet includes plant and live food. Plants with tender leaves do not live for a long time in the same aquarium with the Pompon fish. Algae must be powerful, with strong roots and hard leaves. The arrowhead, egg-capsule, elodea, sagittaria, wallisneria will do. Plants are planted in pots, and not in the ground. Pebbles will help protect the roots of algae. Goldfish love to dig soil, they will pull out poorly fixed plants. Soil use rounded, not sharp: pebbles, sand. Structures, such as grottoes, driftwood, are not needed in the aquarium. Exclude decorations with sharp edges so as not to injure the fish. The lighting is bright.
Order, family: crucian carp.
Comfortable water temperature: 18-23 ° C.
Aggressiveness: 5% are not aggressive, but they can bite each other.
Giroshima compatibility: "goldfish ”, koi carps, harps, crucians and other similar non-predatory lovers of cool water.
Helpful hints: There is an opinion (especially for some reason at ZooMagazin sellers) that when buying fish of this type you should be ready for frequent cleaning of the aquarium (almost with a vacuum cleaner))). They substantiate this opinion by the fact that the "Golden Fish" nibbled and left a lot of "kakul." So, THIS IS NOT THE TRUTH !!! Himself repeatedly started the "Golden Fish" and at the moment one of the aquariums is busy with tail tails ... there is no dirt - I spend an easy cleaning of the aquarium about once a month. So, do not be alarmed by the tales of sellers !!! Fish look very beautiful in an aquarium. And for greater cleanliness and the fight against “kakuli”, get into the aquarium more catfish (speckled catfish, Antsistrus, cockroach) and other aquarium orderlies !!!
It is also noted that these fish are very fond of eating vegetation - the conclusion is not to buy expensive plants in the aquarium.
Appearance and gender differences
The goldfish Pompon acquired its name because of the peculiar outgrowth, which is located on the head and looks like pompons. The fish is also called the nose-bouquet, velvet ball or giroshima. The body of the Pompon is ovoid, the back is low. There is no upper fin. The tail is two-lobed. The upper part of the caudal fin does not fall below the back. Pompon fish has growths of white and red on both sides of the mouth. They resemble fluffy lumps. If you do not take care of the fish properly, growths will disappear. Color variations in color are very diverse. The body length of the Pompon fish reaches 16 cm.
It is difficult to distinguish between the sexes. Only with experience, it is possible to consider small notches in the male on the pectoral fins. The female, ready for spawning, has a thick belly.
