Danio pink: content, breeding, photo, description, compatibility
Care and maintenance in the aquarium
With proper care, Danio pink can live about five years. To make the fish feel at ease, they purchase an aquarium with a volume of at least 50 liters and a height of at least 30 centimeters. It should have an elongated and oblong shape. For the safety of its inhabitants, the aquarium must be covered with a special lid or glass - Rose danio not only swims well, but also knows how to jump high. But he cannot land without consequences for himself, therefore it is better not to take risks.
The bottom of the aquarium is covered with soil, which can be fine granite chips or pebbles, clean and sifted river sand.
Plants need to be planted behind the rear wall and along the side walls, but the front glass is not decorated with anything. So the fish will feel confident and freer when swimming. Using a filter placed inside the aquarium, a rapid flow is created.
Water parameters: the chemical composition of the water and the salt content for pink zebrafish is absolutely not important. Water hardness can be up to 20 dH and up to 7.5 pH, respectively. The optimum temperature of the water in the aquarium is from 18 to 22 ° C.
Be sure to equip the fish "house" provide artificial aeration and filtration. About 20% of the settled water is replaced with fresh water once a week.
Lighting: the aquarium needs to be brightly lit, fluorescent fluorescent lamps are suitable. Their location is important: they are installed in front of the aquarium glass. When the oblique rays from the lamp touch the pink zebrafish on top, this is truly a magnificent sight. But the side and top lighting is better not to use. And the aquarium is set in such a way that it receives daylight.
Some call this beautiful fish and another name is pearl zebrafish. Indeed, in bright light, her body shimmers like mother of pearl.
Like all typical representatives of cyprinids, the body of the zebrafish is flattened on the sides, two pairs of whiskers are located at the edges of the mouth, on the sides and on the back of the scales with a shiny color of a complex combination of colors: blue, olive, gray, green.
The abdomen is pink in color, and in sexually mature males it becomes saturated bright pink.
Young fish from the sides have wedge-shaped red stripes extending from the tail to the middle of the body, transparent fins with a greenish tint and a small anal fin of red or cherry color.
An adult aquarium fish reaches 5 centimeters in length, and in nature there are specimens up to 8 centimeters.
The natural habitat of zebrafish is quite large: from India to the countries of Indochina, where schools of these fish live in the cool water of small rivers and streams.
Danios are schooling fish, and they are completely non-aggressive towards other aquarium inhabitants.
A flock of 7-10 fish, quickly cutting through the water, does no harm to anyone.
Active pink-pearly individuals get along quite peacefully with such decorative fish as
- gurus of all kinds
- mollies and others.
How to feed
But the zebrafish appetite is excellent just because of their agility. They are happy to eat any common types of food:
- small insects and their larvae,
- small plant seeds
- frozen mine
- as well as TetraMin branded feeds.
True, commercial feed should not be abused.
Fish pick food well from the surface of the water, in its middle part, but they will never take food from the bottom.
How to determine the gender
Females are fuller than males, and their gills have a paler color, especially these differences manifest themselves at a young age. Puberty occurs six to eight months after the emergence of a fry larva.
In order for the selected female to spawn, two active males are planted in a separate spawning ground to her. To breed more offspring, group spawning may be practiced.
A fertile female up to a year old is selected so that the eggs can be decanted normally. But the female pink zebrafish, like other representatives of this family, sometimes has a cyst, which makes it infertile. But when choosing males, special problems do not arise.
Fourteen days before the expected spawning date, females should be removed from the males and plentifully fed with live food, which is a bloodworm, tubule or enchitrea. After the specified period, the female’s abdomen is rounded, which confirms the willingness to carry caviar.
For arranging spawning, choose an aquarium with a volume of up to 10 liters per female. At a height of two centimeters from the bottom, a separator grid is laid so that it completely covers it. If such a grid is not available, then it can be replaced by small-leaved vegetation, pressed by small pebbles to the bottom.
For fruitful propagation, fresh, settled water is taken, of which 1/3 is boiled liquid - so you can achieve the required hardness. It is necessary to check the condition of the prepared water: pH = 7, dH = 10.
The water temperature should be the same as the temperature of the aquarium, in which the females were kept until their transplantation in the spawning ground with a level of 5-8 cm above the separator grid.
In the evening, males are placed, after a couple of hours and females. The temperature regulator raises t ° by 4-6 ° C and turns off the light. In the morning, spawning begins and in a few hours the female spawns about 200 eggs. After this, the "manufacturers" are planted back into the aquarium and the net is removed.
The incubation period in zebrafish pink is 1.5-2 days. After 3-4 days, the fry will swim. Initially fed with ciliates, live dust, artemia nauplii, which are then replaced with larger feeds.
Order, family: cyprinids.
Comfortable water temperature: 21-25 ° C
Ph: ph 6.5–7.5, water hardness: 5-15 °.
Aggressiveness: not aggressive.
Compatible Danio Pink: compatible with all “peaceful fish”: zebrafish, terence, minor, tetra, angelfish, catfish, etc.
Helpful hints: In my opinion, the most beautiful fish of the genus "Danek". Look great in flock, on a dark (blue) background of the aquarium film. Fish are nimble and schooling. They can get along with many types of fish, even with fish of medium and high aggression: angelfish, gourami, and even small cichlids.
In order for the pink color of the fish to be juicy, I recommend buying specialized food (for example, Tetra Color).
Neighborhood with other fish
Danio pink is a peace-loving fish and gets along well with other breeds. It can be kept with fish that have the same even character and small size so that they have equal conditions.
Relatives of the same breed prefer to get together in small flocks of up to ten individuals and have fun. This must be considered when purchasing zebrafish pink.
